PRIVACY NOTICE
How enquiry information is handled
Last updated: 14 July 2026
This notice explains how information is handled when you contact Smokey Jim's about food, pre-orders, brownie boxes, Sunday roast or event catering.
Who is responsible for the information?
The business operating Smokey Jim's is responsible for the personal information it receives through customer enquiries. Privacy questions can be raised by emailing sales@smokeyjims.com, calling +44 7379 707892, messaging the business or writing to Smokey Jim's at Black Rabbit Pub, 188 High Street, Maldon CM9 5BX.
Information you may provide
This may include your name, telephone number, email address, preferred date, collection or event location, guest numbers, dietary requirements and the contents of your message.
How the website form works
The website does not silently submit or store the form in its own customer database. It prepares a message on your device and opens WhatsApp. The business receives the information only when you confirm Send inside WhatsApp. Direct email, telephone, Facebook and Messenger enquiries are received through those services.
Why the information is used
Information is used to answer questions, confirm food availability, arrange collections, discuss event requirements, prepare quotes, manage bookings and keep appropriate business records. The usual legal bases are taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing a contract and the business's legitimate interests in responding to customers and managing its services.
Who may receive it?
Information may be processed through WhatsApp, Facebook or Messenger, which are Meta services, and through the telephone, email or device services you choose to use. Details may also be shared with service providers or professional advisers where necessary to manage a booking, comply with the law or protect the business. Personal information is not sold.
How long it is kept
General enquiries are kept only for as long as reasonably needed to respond and manage the conversation. Booking, payment and transaction records may be retained for longer where accounting, tax, insurance or legal requirements apply. Information that is no longer required should be deleted or securely disposed of.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction or objection to certain uses. You may also raise a concern about how your information is handled. Contact Smokey Jim's at sales@smokeyjims.com first so the request can be considered.
Complaints
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you remain concerned after contacting the business. The ICO provides current contact and complaint information on its official website.
Cookies, analytics and embedded content
This build does not include advertising trackers, behavioural analytics or a marketing-cookie system. Clicking Maps, WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger or Purple Olive links takes you to third-party services operating under their own privacy terms. This notice must be reviewed before analytics, advertising pixels, online payments or an independently stored enquiry form are added.
Changes to this notice
The date above will be updated when the website's data handling changes materially.
